Tampa Network Security

Tampa Network Security provided by Citrus Computers. No matter how large or small your network is, network security should be your number one concern. All networks are vulnerable to hackers, blended attacks, and malicious programs without solid protection. Citrus Computers can determine which products work with your network and computer processes. Citrus Computers network security experts can review your network and set up multiple levels of security. Our certified technicians are well versed in security issues and solutions. They will insure that your software is fully updated with the latest security patches, install or test your firewall, and look for possible areas of backdoor access.

Users don’t need to know everything. In fact, most users might never completely understand the complex structure of a network and how network security is organized. Nevertheless, providing users with some basic knowledge of the security process can help them immensely and, hopefully, reduce your trouble calls!

  • A secure network platform with integrated security to which advanced security technologies and services can easily be added.
  • Threat control services for antivirus protection and policy enforcement that continuously monitor network activity and prevent or mitigate problems.
  • Secure communication services that maintain the privacy and confidentiality of sensitive data, voice, video, and wireless communications while cost-effectively extending the reach of the network .

Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall

The Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall is compatible with all email servers and can fit into nearly any corporate or small business environment. It is used by small organizations with as few as 10 employees and large organizations with as many as 200,000 employees. A single Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall handles up to 100,000 active email users. Multiple units can be clustered together for even greater capacity and high availability.

Network Router

A router is a device that forwards data packets along networks. A router is connected to at least two networks, commonly two LANs or WANs or a LAN and its ISP’s network. Routers are located at gateways, the places where two or more networks connect, and are the critical device that keeps data flowing between networks and keeps the networks connected to the Internet. When data is sent between locations on one network or from one network to a second network the data is always seen and directed to the correct location by the router. They accomplish his by using headers and forwarding tables to determine the best path for forwarding the data packets, and they use protocols such as ICMP to communicate with each other and configure the best route between any two hosts.

Network Switch

A network switch is a small hardware device that joins multiple computers together within one local area network (LAN). Technically, network switches operate at layer two (Data Link Layer) of the OSI model. Network switches appear nearly identical to network hubs, but a switch generally contains more intelligence (and a slightly higher price tag) than a hub. Unlike hubs, network switches are capable of inspecting data packets as they are received, determining the source and destination device of each packet, and forwarding them appropriately. By delivering messages only to the connected device intended, a network switch conserves network bandwidth and offers generally better performance than a hub.

VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Cisco’s VPN-optimized routers provide scalability, routing, security and QoS (quality of service). Based on the Cisco IOS (Internet Operating System) software, there is a router suitable for every situation, from small-office/home-office (SOHO) access through central-site VPN aggregation, to large-scale enterprise needs.

Print Server

A print server is simply a device that allows computer workstations to interface with one or more printers that are shared on a network. Each station has the ability to designate one of the printers on the network as its default printer, but may always choose to send a print job to any of the other printers recognized by the print server.

Wireless Access Point (WAP or AP)

In computer networking, a wireless access point (WAP or AP) is a device that allows wireless communication devices to connect to a wireless network using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or related standards. The WAP usually connects to a wired network, and can relay data between the wireless devices (such as computers or printers) and wired devices on the network.

Wireless Bridge

A wireless bridge is a hardware component used to connect two or more network segments (LANs or parts of a LAN) which are physically and logically (by protocol) separated. It does not necessarily always need to be a hardware device, as some operating systems (such as Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and FreeBSD) provide software to bridge different protocols. This is seen commonly in protocols over wireless to cable. So in a sense the computer acts as a bridge by using bridging O/S software.
